Speech Feedback Date : May 28, 2017 Evaluator: Jeonghaeng Lee Speaker: Sangwon Park Assignment/Title : Sangwon Park/Second Assignment/Thur 3-4
Speech Value: 5. His topic was definitely a one that could interest everyone. Because these days the media tells people to be optimistic, a famous ‘propaganda’ being: “Say a half cup of water is half full! Not half empty!” His speech about telling people to be the opposite was fascinating. Preparation: 5. Memorizing his whole speech, he could use both his hands to perform adequate hand gestures. Organization: 5. He had a powerful opening, strong back up on his body, and a memorable closer. Opening: 5. Reversing the dogma with the powerful “HOWEVER” was impressive. Body: 5. He used several quotes to back up his points. Conclusion: 4. He ended his speech by encouraging the audience to ‘manifest dissatisfaction.’ However, it could have been better if he took more time to sum up his speech. Transitions: 5. He took great use of transitional words. As written above, the use “HOWEVER!” in his opening was effective. What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective? -His topic was OK, main points were strong, but it would have been better if he made his closer a little longer, giving a quick summary about what he said in the body. What did you like about the presentation? -His opening was powerful, and I liked how he used quotes to back up his statements.
Sorry Sangwon... The evaluation form from toastmasters says to give you a score on a scale of 1 to 5. I was so used to the system of 5 being the highest score and 1 being the lowest, I made a mistake of giving you a 5 for what you deserve a 1(for toastmasters, 1 is the highest score!) on. All of the 5s I gave you on the comment above are 1s, 4s are 2s and so on. My bad..
