Speech Feedback Date : 2017-05-29 Evaluator: Christina Woo Speaker: Hyowon Yun Assignment/Title : Hyowon Yun/PIE/Thur1-2/Major Assignment 1. Speech Value 1: The speaker came up with a very interesting topic which was about softness. It was a valuable lesson for me. 2. Preparation 1: I could see that the speaker has prepared a lot for this speech. Although she had a note with her, she did not rely much on it. I could also tell that she put a lot of effort on the PPT! 3. Organization 1: I think the whole speech was well organized part by part. She had examples and stories for each of her slide which made it clear for the audience to understand. 4. Opening 1: The opening started with a quotation which definitely made me curious about what her presentation would be about. 5. Body 1: The speaker gave facts, examples, statistics and personal stories which allowed the audience to be immersed by her speech. 6. Conclusion 1: I want to thank the speaker for sharing such a valuable lesson with the audience. I liked the conclusion. It was easy to understand and as I listen to the speaker’s conclusion, it keeps me to wonder about the word “softness”. 7. Transitions 1: The speaker had a smooth transition and it was clear for the audience to understand. 8. What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective? I think it was really good! But if I must give an advice, I think the speaker could have done it well even without the paper. 9. What did you like about the presentation? -I like how she seems so comfortable and relaxed. The speaker has a good pace and I enjoyed the comparison between two of her friends. I liked the story about the old maid and the cow. It kept me thinking about the situation for a while. How interesting!

1. Speech Value 1: She had a very unique topic about softness. 2. Preparation 1: She had clearly prepared for the speech very much and did not realy on her notes much. 3. Organization 2: I think her speech was well-organized with clear opening with a quote, body with stories and supporting material and conclusion. 4. Opening 1: Good quote 5. Body 1: Lots of facts and statistics supporting her topic, also I liked the stories. 6. Conclusion 1: "call to action" -type of conclusion 7. Transition 1
What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective? I think the speech was really good and nice use of ppt slides to emphasis the statistics. Maybe her notes could have been on a smaller size than an A4 paper as she did not need them much. What did you like about the presentation? I liked the topic, it was interesting and unique. She had a great voice and she was easy to follow. Great job!
