    Title : Organize Your Speech (2nd Major Assignment)
    Date : 2017.05.28
    Evaluator : Seonghwan Cho
    Speaker : Hyunjin Song

    * Speech Value (Interesting, meaningful to audience)
    : 1 / Your topic was really interesting and meaningful beacuse those stages you said are what people can usually experience and even I often feel those in life too.

    * Preparation (Research, rehearsal)
    : 1 / Your presentation was based on what an expert (or experts) said. It well showed you have researched information in advance. Also, you looked confient. I guess you may practice many times before video recording.

    * Organization (Logical, clear)
    : 3 / I'm sorry but it was hard to specify your speech outline. Transition from opening to body was unclear, I think. Is introducing the stages in opening part or body part? It seems to be in opening because you said you 'briefly' talk about it. If so, I think placing it in body part would be better. Body to conclusion was also unclear but fortunately the PPT help me get it. You just said 'so' to move on to conclusion part. Why don't you use some expressions like 'to conclude, to sum up, etc.' in the textbook to specify the transition?

    * Opening (Attention-getting, led to topic)
    : 3 / There were greeting, question, suggesting the topic. The question was novel enough to take audiences' attention. But, if there was preview of the speech and the transition to body part was more distinct, it would be better.

    * Body (Flowed smoothly, appropriate, support material)
    : 2 / The contents was fascinating me. Especially, telling your own experience and acting made me understand the second stage and whole speech better. It was great. One thing which could improve yours is that the example for the first and third stage need to be more specific. It'd better to say it was explanation rather than example.

    * Conclusion (Effective)
    : 1 / It was effective since you suggest review and summary of your speech. Also, you mentioned what you want to highlight very well. Moreover, you said a quato to support your opinion. Adding conclusion signal might be better. But, the PPT have done its role well so it did't matter.

    * Transition (appropriate, helpful)
    : 3 / In addition to what I said in the organization section above, the transition signal also was not enough.
    I think organizing and transition signal is the most important thing in this assignment because as you can find out, it is the main purpose of this presentation.

    * What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective?
    : As I repeatedly said above, if there was proper transition sinals between one subtopic and another, the whole presentation would be perfect.

    * What did you like about the presentation?
    : Overall, I really liked your speech. Your voice was clear and audible. Your pronunciation and intonation were also good. You tried to use more eye-contact and less note-watching. Finally, I think you're in the third stage as to English presentation because you looked confient. I hope you are also in the third stage as to your whole studying in university rather than in the second one. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Title: Your Position

    1. Speech Value (Interesting, meaningful to audience): 1. This topic was interesting because I'm sure I'm going through the phases that she suggested myself.

    2. Preparation (Research, rehearsal): 1. It looks like she rehearsed a few times before filming this video.

    3. Organization (Logical, clear): 1. She organized her speech very well. Her logics were clear, and it was easy to follow where she was going with her presentation.

    4. Opening (Attention-getting, led into topic): 1. She asked a question to the audience and she tried to make clear her topic. I think her opening was great.

    5. Body (Flowed smoothly, appropriate support material): 2. I liked that she provided a real life example, but there wasn't enough material. Marriage and some phases that we go through are not enough material to support her speech.

    6. Conclusion (Effective): 1. Her conclusion was very smooth.

    7. Transitions (appropriate, helpful): 2. I'm not sure if there were enough transitions.

    * What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective?
    I think she could benefit from better transitions. It could've helped my understanding if she had let me know what she was going to talk about with transitions.

    * What did you like about the presentation?
    She was powerful in getting attention from the audience, and she's a good speaker in my opinion. She looks confident in her video. Also, her speech is very polished.
