1.What was the overall purpose of the speech. Try to restate or summarize the main point. How well was it addressed? :
The topic was about the person that she admires which was her mum. One of the reasons for admiring her was because of her unconditional love. She recalls a moment in her high school where she had gotten into lots of troubles and her mum told her off but cared for her afterwards. Her mum also understands other people very well by thinking in their shoes. She says that she should follow her mum's characteristics to care for others around her.

2.Was there a hook? Was it effective? How could it have been improved? :
Yes, She started off by saying a general statement about the topic, listed some of the people that others would admire, and then she went on to her thesis statement which presented her own. Overall, it was an effective speech as we got to know about her mum. The speech was very well organised but if there is one thing that she could have done better is by relaxing her hand movements. She tried to keep them together but I think it could have been better if she kept them to her sides.

3.Was the structure logical? Point supported by evidence or examples? Good transitions between ideas? :
The structure was logicla, she presented two reasons why she admire her; the unconditional love for her and the profound ability to understand others. They were supported by examples of her personal experience. The transition between them was well done as she used conjunctions to move the next point.

4.Was the conclusion concise? Were main points restated or summarized? Was the closing memorable? :
The conclusion was solid and she wrapped up by saying how influential her mum is to her and she should follow her footsteps. Yes, it was memorable.

5.Did the speaker use enthusiasm, pauses, humor, visual aids.:
The speech did not require any humours but even without it , the speech was interesting. She took pauses between the sentences which allowed the audience to understand the speech more thoroughly. She did not have any visual aids.

6.What did you notice about the speaker’s body language? Posture, eye contact, gestures. :
She used some body language, especially with her hands. They were used well to express her mum's love and how she embraced the things around her. She also had a very good eye contact, as she did not look around too much or looked them.

7.Was the volume good? Did the speaker enunciate and pronounce clearly? Could everything be understood? :
The volume was good as I didn't have any difficulties in hearing her speech. She enunciated the words clearly which made it comfortable for listeners to understand. It was a really well prepared speech.

Assignment Title: A Great Vacation Idea

    1. What was the overall purpose of the speech? Try to restate or summarize the main point. How well was it addressed?

    2. Was there a hook? Was it effective? How could it have been improved?
Yes, there was an interesting hook that everyone deserves a break from everyday stress. She connected this idea to suggesting the perfect vacation destination for relieving all forms of stress.

    3. Was the structure logical? Point supported by evidence or examples? Good transitions between ideas?
The transition from the opening to her main point was smooth. Her main points: ocean activities, beach activities and physical treatments all served well as reasons for ‘Why should we visit Maldives?’ question. I really liked that her question towards her audience was answered right away. Boom. Her supporting details, which were mainly descriptions of related activities, were also great.

    4. Was the conclusion concise? Were main points restated or summarized? Was the closing memorable?
Her conclusion was both concise and memorable. Her main points were restated in that she once more stressed why her audience should visit Maldives (her resort in particular :) ). I loved the part that Heaven Resort is much ‘more than’ just a vacation destination. It was memorable and made me wonder how great it will be to spend my vacation in Maldives.

    5. Did the speaker use enthusiasm, pauses, humor, visual aids?
It was really interesting that she introduced herself as the CEO of the Heaven Resort in the Maldives and talked about the Resort as if this resort belonged to her. It made me more engage in her speech. As she was talking as if she were the CEO of this virtual resort, she was super enthusiastic! She was mildly humorous, and her visual aids were effective in that she used a lot of images rather than texts.

    6. What did you notice about the speaker’s body language? Posture, eye contact, gestures.
Her body language was effective even though she was holding a microphone in one hand. Her posture, eye contact and gestures were all great.

    7. Was the volume good? Did the speaker enunciate and pronounce clearly? Could everything be understood?
The volume was great and her pronunciation was also great as well. I liked how she highlighted certain words by putting much more stress on them. Great emphasis. Everything was understood well.

Thank you for sharing your speech with us, Bochra! : )
